Swimming in a Swedish lake
Sweden has thousands of lakes, and most are so clear that you can see the bottom. Along the great lakes Vättern and Vänern you will find peaceful little swimming spots with jetties and shallow water, ideal for children. Bring a towel and simply stay the whole afternoon, because in summer the water is wonderful for splashing about.
The Stockholm archipelago
Off the coast of Stockholm lie thousands of little islands, the famous archipelago. By ferry you can hop from island to island, past red wooden cottages and small harbours. The island of Grinda or Vaxholm makes a lovely first stop, with room to swim, walk and enjoy an ice cream by the water.
Liseberg in Gothenburg
Liseberg in Gothenburg is the largest theme park in Scandinavia and a firm family favourite. There are hearty roller coasters for the daredevils and a separate area with gentle rides for the very little ones. Feel free to set aside a whole day, because in the evening the lights come on and the park becomes even cosier.

Liseberg en de meren, top combinatie
Twee weken was precies genoeg om natuur en steden te combineren. Liseberg in Goteborg was een schot in de roos en daarna zwommen we een paar dagen aan het Vanern-meer. Onze kamer was ruim en de kinderen sliepen gewoon bij ons.

Astrid Lindgrens Varld maakte de vakantie
Astrid Lindgrens Varld in Vimmerby maakte de vakantie, onze dochters speelden er een hele dag. We zaten in een familiehotel bij een meer en zwommen elke ochtend voor het ontbijt.

Elanden gespot en eindeloze zomeravonden
Wat ons het meest bijbleef waren de lange lichte avonden, om tien uur was het nog niet donker. We deden een avondsafari in een wildpark en zagen echt elanden, de jongens vonden dat fantastisch. Overdag zwommen we in de heldere meren en wandelden we door de bossen. We reisden met de boot heen, dat scheelde een lange autorit. Heerlijk rustig allemaal, we komen terug.

Heerlijke week aan de zuidkust in Skane
Skane in het zuiden lag het dichtstbij en beviel prima. Mooie stranden, gezellige stadjes als Ystad en een leuk dagje Malmo. De kinderen zwommen elke dag.

Een zomer in een rood houten huisje
We boekten een rood houten zomerhuisje aan een meer en dat was precies het Zweden-gevoel dat we zochten. De kinderen zwommen voor de deur en 's avonds zaten we lang buiten in het lichte schemerdonker. Vanuit het huisje maakten we uitstapjes naar Goteborg en de grote meren. Wij gaan zeker terug.
