Doen in Zuid-Frankrijk: van de Camargue tot de Middellandse Zee
Stap met de eigen auto een Zuid-Franse zomer in. De brede zandstranden van de Middellandse Zeekust, de roze flamingo's van de Camargue en de gezellige badplaatsen liggen op rijafstand vanuit Nederland. Zwemmen in zee of bij het zwembad, ijsjes op de boulevard, een dagje waterpret of een uitstapje naar een vestingstadje: er is voor het hele gezin iets te beleven.

What to do in Zuid-Frankrijk
The southern coast of France is made for families. Wide sandy beaches with calm water, sunny little harbour towns and swimming pools close at hand, all within easy reach of your hotel. Between days on the beach there is plenty to discover, from pink flamingos in the Camargue to centuries-old fortified towns.
Beach and pool without a long drive
The seaside resorts along this coast all have long, shallow sandy beaches where small children can paddle safely. La Grande-Motte, Valras-Plage and Argelès-sur-Mer are proper family resorts with promenades and ice cream parlours. Many residences have their own pool, so you can decide each day whether it is the beach or the pool.
The Camargue with flamingos and white horses
Just behind the coast lies the Camargue, a vast nature reserve with pink flamingos, white horses and black bulls. You can cycle, walk or take a horse ride along the marshes. For children, seeing those flamingos for the first time in real life is something special.
Seaquarium in Le Grau-du-Roi
In the harbour town of Le Grau-du-Roi (Port Camargue) you will find the Seaquarium, with sharks, seals and a large tank full of marine life. A lovely outing for a cloudy day, or when the children have had enough of the beach for a while. Combine it with a stroll around the pleasant marina.

Genoeg te doen voor pubers
Met twee tieners was ik bang voor verveling, maar dat viel reuze mee. Genoeg ruimte in het aparthotel en 's avonds liepen ze zelf naar de boulevard.

Fijn dat de kinderen gratis op de kamer sliepen
Argelès-sur-Mer was een schot in de roos voor een gezin met kleine kinderen: rustig strand, ondiep water en een zwembad bij de residence. Dat de kinderen gratis bij ons op de kamer sliepen scheelde echt in de portemonnee.

Twee weken Camargue, voor herhaling vatbaar
We zijn twee weken naar Le Grau-du-Roi geweest en hebben de Camargue van alle kanten gezien. De flamingo's waren een hoogtepunt voor de kinderen en het Seaquarium vonden ze geweldig. Ruim appartement vlak bij de haven. Heel fijn dat je zelf bepaalt hoe lang je blijft, twee weken voelde echt als vakantie.

Goede uitvalsbasis in Valras-Plage
Valras-Plage was lekker rustig en toch gezellig op de boulevard. Het hotel eenvoudig maar netjes, het zwembad goed bijgehouden.

Fréjus combineert strand en cultuur
We kozen voor Fréjus in de Var en konden zo het strand combineren met wat oude Romeinse plekjes in de buurt. De kinderen waren vooral te vinden bij het zwembad van de residence en op het strand, terwijl wij overdag af en toe een uitstapje maakten. Met de eigen auto erheen reizen gaf ons de vrijheid om ook eens een dagje verder te rijden. Tien dagen voelde als een echte vakantie en niet als gehaast.
