Een week aan de Bodensee was precies wat we zochten. De kinderen zwommen elke dag en wij wandelden langs het meer. Heerlijk rustig.

What to do in Zuid-Duitsland

Swimming and playing on Lake Constance
Lake Constance (the Bodensee) is the largest lake in Germany and has wonderful lakeside lidos with shallow water where children can safely paddle and swim. Many spots have grassy lawns, playgrounds and boat hire. On a warm summer's day the water is surprisingly pleasant and you can step straight from the shore into the lake.
The fairy-tale castle of Neuschwanstein
King Ludwig II's castle sits high on a mountain near Füssen and looks as though it has stepped straight out of a storybook. From the Marienbrücke you get the finest view of the white towers. Tip: book your tickets in advance and plan the walk up, as children often find the horse-drawn carriage the highlight.
A day at Europa-Park near Rust
Europa-Park is the largest theme park in Germany and lies right beside the Black Forest. With roller coasters for the daredevils and gentler rides for the little ones, you can easily spend a whole day here. The different country-themed areas make a circuit of the park feel almost like a little journey in itself.

Neuschwanstein en de bergen waren top
Fijn dat we zelf onze datum en hotel konden kiezen, zo zaten we precies in het Allgau. De kinderen waren stil van kasteel Neuschwanstein en de wandeling naar de Marienbrucke. Met de kabelbaan de berg op was het hoogtepunt; dat uitzicht vergeet je niet snel.

Europa-Park maakte de vakantie compleet
We zaten aan de rand van het Zwarte Woud en combineerden de meren met een dag pretpark, waar onze twee door het dolle heen waren. De Triberger watervallen waren indrukwekkend. We konden zelf onze datum kiezen, dus we pakten een rustige week buiten de drukste dagen. Mooie mix van natuur en plezier voor het hele gezin.

Konstanz en Lindau zijn echte aanraders
Lindau en Konstanz zijn echte aanraders, gezellig slenteren aan het water. We wisselden af tussen zwemmen in de Bodensee en de stadjes. Parkeren was op een drukke dag even zoeken, maar verder niets dan lof.

Twee weken bergen, meren en vrijheid
Omdat we zelf de reisduur mochten bepalen, maakten we er twee weken van. We zaten bij de Tegernsee en zwommen er bijna elke ochtend. Alles op ons gemak, zonder haast.
