Stad waar je voor de tweede keer komt om de plekken te zien die je de eerste keer hebt gemist. Geen vlucht nodig vanuit Nederland, met de Thalys ben je in 3,5 uur op Gare du Nord.
Niet vanuit de toren kijken, maar erop. De Trocadéro-plaza aan de overkant van de Seine geeft het iconische zicht, en elk vol uur na zonsondergang sprankelt hij vijf minuten lang. Ga voor tienen, dan is het er rustiger en de lichtval mooier.
Oud joods kwartier, nu de hipste wijk van de stad. Loop van Place des Vosges naar rue des Rosiers voor de befaamde falafel, de rij is lang maar gaat snel. Zondagmiddag is het hier het levendigst, met winkels en cafés open.
In een oud treinstation, met de mooiste verzameling impressionisten ter wereld. Vooral hierheen voor de Monets. Twee uur is genoeg. Veel rustiger dan de Louvre, ook in het hoogseizoen is het hier nog draaglijk.

Booked the Paris package, all sorted in one go. Thalys from Brussels, Louvre was included, walked through at my own pace. Then Marais for dinner. The heating wouldn't turn down. Went well, I'll do this more often.

Paris package with the Louvre, went on Tuesday, Louvre nicely quiet. Entry was in the package. Wandered through at our own pace, then Tuileries and Île de la Cité. WiFi cut out in the room. Recommended for a sorted Paris trip outside peak times.
Three girlfriends · 2 nights
Four of us booked the Paris package with the Louvre, entries were included, straight in. After that we walked through the Tuileries and over the Pont des Arts. The blind didn't fully close. Back again next year.
Family with kids (10 and 13) · 3 nights
Booked the Paris package with Louvre for the whole family. The 10- and 13-year-olds liked the Egyptian halls and the armour rooms most. Entries were in the package, so no ticket stress. Marais for dinner. Family room on the 4th, thin wall between rooms. We'll definitely be back.
Couple · 2 nights
Booked the Paris package with the Louvre, entry was included, saved us a queue. Did the Mona Lisa quickly, then the Dutch hall and the Egyptian wing. Hotel just behind the Tuileries, easy walking. The in-room coffee was instant. Recommended if you want a sorted city break.

Bakkerij in het tiende arrondissement, sinds 2002 op dezelfde plek met dezelfde recepten. Hun escargot pistache-chocolade is wat ons betreft de beste van de stad. Open dinsdag tot vrijdag, en ga vroeg, de favorieten zijn voor de middag op.
Loop omhoog vanaf metro Abbesses, niet via de funiculaire, dan voelt de stad zich langzaam openen. De treden achter de basiliek geven het beste uitzicht en zijn 's avonds verlicht. Let wel op je tas rond de zuilen, daar is het altijd druk.
Grootste openluchtmarkt van Parijs, op donderdag en zondag. Verse oesters uit Bretagne, baguettes uit lokale ovens, en zoveel kaas als je wil proeven. Neem een rugzak mee voor de spullen die je toch wel mee terug wil nemen.
