Düsseldorf is a city bursting with energy – where old and new seamlessly complement each other. In the Altstadt, the “longest bar in the world,” you almost trip over the cozy cafés and traditional breweries. Here, you can taste the famous Altbier straight from the tap and immediately feel the warm, cheerful atmosphere of the city.
On the Königsallee – affectionately called “Kö” by locals – you’ll find the chic side of Düsseldorf. Luxury shops, stylish boutiques, and cozy coffee spots line the canal, perfect for an afternoon of strolling and shopping.

Twee uur rijden vanaf Utrecht. Modeshowhoofdstad van Duitsland, Altbier in plaats van Pils, en het grootste Japanstown van Europa.
De Kö is de duurste winkelstraat van Duitsland, maar de groene gracht in het midden is gratis. Daarachter ligt de Hofgarten, perfect voor een uurtje op een bankje na het winkelen. Een fontein-zwaan staat aan het eind.
260 kroegen op een halve vierkante kilometer. Begin bij Uerige voor het beste Altbier, doorlopen naar Schumacher voor de oudste brouwerij. Op vrijdag en zaterdag staat de hele wijk vol, dus kom vroeg of door de week.
Tussen het station en de Altstadt ligt het Japanse kwartier. Naninwa heeft de beste tonkotsu-ramen, en Takezo levert sushi zoals in Tokio. Lunch is rustiger dan diner, gewoon binnenlopen kan meestal.

Booked the Düsseldorf package midweek, Altbier brewery tour was included. Everything at our own pace, city was nice and calm. Good value for midweek dates. Pillows a touch soft. Recommended for a sorted city + brewery break outside weekends.

Booked the Düsseldorf package as a four, Altbier brewery tour was included. The Uerige tour really stuck with me. Then MedienHafen for the architecture. Upstairs neighbour was an early riser. Doing it again next year.

Booked the Düsseldorf family package, Altbier brewery tour for the two of us was included (kids did their own thing). Altstadt was fun to wander with the kids (11 and 14). Family room with bunks really helped. Königsallee for shopping after. Shower ticked at night. We'll be back.

Twee gebouwen op tien minuten lopen van elkaar (K20 en K21). Klassiek modernisme (Picasso, Klee) in de K20, hedendaagse kunst in de K21. Op maandag gesloten, doordeweeks lekker rustig.
Overdekte versmarkt sinds 1893, elke dag behalve zondag open. Vooral de oester-bar van Goldhahn aan het eind, en de Italiaanse delicatessen halverwege. Goed voor een uitgebreide lunch tussen het sightseeen door.
