A surprise snow flurry over the outdoor pool on Thursday, that was the moment. Reception arranged a later Sunday check-out. Recommended for long weekends.

Voucher as a Sinterklaas gift to each other, redeemed on the first weekend of December. The wine selection at the bar was nicely curated, explored across two evenings. Two days of sauna and outdoor pool, one drizzly walk. The hotel went with a more restrained Christmas decor this winter, which we liked.

Voucher half saved, half from my uncle, redeemed during half-term. Bunk bed worked as ever. We did the Finnish sauna, kids swam. The arrival instructions weren't quite right, couldn't find the garage at first, sorted after a phone call. Fine for one night.

The three of us from a book club that's been going fifteen years. Voucher saved up across birthdays. Three afternoons in the Finnish cabin and the steam sauna, three evenings of wine and books in the lounge. A surprise cellist in the lobby on Wednesday. The hotel remembered our coffee preferences. Voucher from my sister, used for two nights after a stretch of intense work. Sauna garden was pleasantly quiet midweek. The Wi-Fi in the room kept dropping out, fine for reading but a shame. Restaurant was great, short menu well executed. Deep, long sleep.

The voucher had been sat in a drawer for ages, finally redeemed it midweek. Finnish sauna at dusk, then a quick dip in the outdoor pool. Room spacious, rain shower lovely. Breakfast at a window table. Great for one night, next time I'll book two.
